Church’s Marriage Manual and The Improvement Era (now,
The Ensign), excerpts of which were used in LDS radio
commercials.

I’m a 42 year old (gulp!) mom, and have five children
ages 5-23. I was born into the LDS church, part of a
multi-generational family and grew up very active in the
LDS church. (Stake dances and girl’s camp were my
favorite activity!) I became inactive for a time as an
adult, but came back and then was active for 3 ½ years
before coming to see that Biblical doctrine and LDS
doctrine just didn’t agree. Before that happened I had a

Hi, my name is Sharon, and I was born and raised
LDS. My family goes back to the early days of the
church. I came to the conclusion that the LDS Church
was not what it claimed to be after much prayer and
searching. I used LDS books to come to my
conclusions, and realized the gospel isn’t so
complicated as Mormonism makes it. I know this is a
hard time for you. Let me know how I can be of help,
and in what ways I can pray for you.

Occupation: Stay-at-home mom
Time in LDS Church: 24 years
LDS Church Positions: Young Women’s class
president, seminary graduate
I was raised in a multi-generational LDS family. My
father was in several bishoprics. I started to question
the church as a teenager, but at 24 I began a search for
truth which started with returning to the LDS church and
ended two months later when I welcomed the true Jesus of
the Bible to live in my heart and be my personal savior.
I am now 33 years old and have been a Christian ever
since. I am married to a Christian man and have three
young children, who I home-school. My husband and I have
served as missionaries to Jewish immigrants in Israel.
We now own a window cleaning business, which I manage
from our home. My sister and I helped to start a
former-Mormon support group in our community. Other
interests I have are natural childbirth and poetry.

I live in California and I’m a retired 73 year old
former Mormon for 35 plus years, married in the temple,
actively participated in ward activities as a Sunday
school leader and Stake missionary. Questions and doubts
arose and I was not able to find satisfactory answers so
I investigated the facts of Mormonism on my own and
ultimately found truth in the Bible, the book that
Mormons say they do not trust. Now I am confident in my
eternal security as I trust in Jesus Christ alone

Elders Quorum President, Bishop’s Counselor
I am 37 years old, male, married to my wife since
1992 and we have 4 children. I was raised in the LDS
church, baptized at 8, and served a mission in Venezuela
from 1988 – 1990. After returning from my mission I held
several callings within the church such as seminary
teacher, Elders Quorum President, Bishops Counselor, and
at the time that I left the church I was serving as the
Bishop of our ward. I was living my life as a faithful
member of the LDS church and then God began to reveal
Himself to me in a way that I didn’t know Him and in the
light of Christ I began to see the frailties in my
belief in the LDS doctrine. I came to the point that I
had to place my trust in God and allow Him to lead me on
in whatever direction He would choose for me

I am fifty years old, male, married (5 children), and a missionary—on my way (with my wife and children) to serve full time with New Tribes Mission in northern Mexico (Chihuahua). My wife and I are 5th generation Mormons who left in the Church 1990’s. I came to faith in Jesus Christ in the fall of 1996. I grew up in Salt Lake City, in a very active LDS family. I served a mission, attended the temple regularly, served in various quorum presidencies, and never questioned my testimony until 1990, when I recognized the great burden I was under and the many unanswered questions I had over the years. As a long-haul truck driver in 1995, I listened to Christian radio and heard, again and again, the true gospel message: I am a sinner in need of a Savior and I can place my faith in Him for salvation. God saved me from suicide and brought me into the glorious light of His Son, Jesus Christ. He alone is faithful!
